Gustav is a physician-scientist from Lund in Sweden (the birthplace of echocardiography). Clinically, he is a cardiology fellow concentrating on heart failure, valve disease and congenital heart disease. Scientifically, he has nurtured an interest in genetics since his time as visiting graduate student at Broad Institute/MIT in the exciting days when GWAS had just become a reality. More recently, he has developed interests in proteomics and functional genomics. He applies these tools to broadly study the molecular determinants of myocardial and valvular structure, function and disease, with an aim to facilitate the implementation of precision medicine for heart disease. Outside of medicine, he also has a large musical interest and interests in history, literature, film and nature.
